Evaluation and planning

A focused evaluation helps identify strengths, concerns, contributing factors, and whether therapy or collaboration with another professional is appropriate.

WHAT TO EXPECT

A plan built from careful observation—not assumptions.

  • Review of the primary concern, relevant history, and everyday impact

  • Assessment selected for the individual and referral question

  • Clear explanation of findings and recommended next steps

  • Functional goals developed with the patient or family

  • Collaboration with other professionals when appropriate and authorized

Not every speech sound or swallowing concern is caused by an orofacial myofunctional disorder. Evaluation helps determine which factors are relevant for the individual.
